The renowned playback singer Swarnalatha passed away on at Chennai. Its been reported that she was suffering from illness. The singer been admitted to the hospital complaining about lung infections.After a brief stay in Hospital ,the singer died.
She is actually from Palakkad, she has sang more than 7500 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam,Kannada, Urdu, etc.
Her father name is K.C. Cherukutty who was a famous harmonium player as well as a singer. Swarnalatha was also a dubbing artist.She even won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her performance in the the famous song Porale Ponnuthayi from the film Karuththamma. She has sung many songs for the famous musician Ilayaraja.
